A Family Business
In 1872, George Elliott, aged 28, married Miss Elisabeth Mary Decent and following a brief honeymoon, opened the Lymington Clothing Mart at 87 High Street, Lymington on April 20th.
So began a family business that has continued to prosper for over 135 years and five different generations. From the first move to larger premises in 1890, through years of expansion, to the concentration on the sole Elliotts, here in Lymington, during the last twenty five years.
Each generation has had their own struggle to maintain the tradition and continuity. The priority has always been to embrace the latest methods and practices to enable the business to be a regional leader in style and quality, while at the same time being proud of our history and heritage and maintaining our strong links with tradition and the local community.
Elliotts today, we hope, has this philosophy at its heart, combining the best in modern style and design with the highest standards of quality and service, enabling us to build long term relationships with the nicest customers we could ever wish for.
